🔥 How to Use Your FireTub — Simple 4-Step Guide

1. Fill & Light the Fire

• Fill your FireTub with clean water to about ¾ full, or just below the top fitting opening.
• Use dry kindling and firewood inside the fire coil and light the fire from the coil base.
• Keep a steady fire going, adding small to medium logs as needed. A large fire isn’t necessary—just enough to heat the internal face of the coil.

2. Heat-Up Phase: Cover, Stir & Monitor

• Like heating a pot on the stove, water heats much faster with a lid on. Keep your cover on during the heating to reduce overall heat up time.
• Stir the water regularly to help distribute heat evenly and to get an accurate temperature reading.
• Use the supplied floating thermometer to regularly monitor the water temperature.

3. Adjust the Fire & Enjoy Your Soak

• The standard hot tub temperature is approx 36 - 40°C.
• When the water reaches approximately 30°C, stop adding fresh logs to the coil and let the fire burn down, adding only small logs as needed. It may take a few sessions to find the perfect rhythm here as factors like weather, wood type, and season affect heating.
• Now it’s time to derobe, settle in, and enjoy your soak alongside the crackling fire and beautiful views.

4. Drain & Keep Dry

• After soaking, fully drain your FireTub.
• Never leave water sitting idle for longer than 36 hours within your FireTub—stagnant water can damage the galvanised coating.
• Make sure your FireTub is clean and dry inside after use. Replace the cover and your tub is now ready for subsequent soaks.

The fire is your control lever — it powers both the heat and water flow through natural thermal siphon circulation.

As long as the fire’s burning, heat moves through the stainless-steel coil and gently warms the tub. When you’re about 10°C from your ideal temperature, stop adding logs to the coil and allow the fire to burn down — as the flames fade, circulation slows and heating stops, preventing overheating.

Every FireTub includes a temperature gauge for easy monitoring.

Expect around 90–120 minutes (a few fire loads) for the 6' Big Banter to reach soaking temperature.

To maintain warmth, just add a small log or two as needed.

To heat, keep the fire active. To cease heating, allow the fire to burn down and out.

Once the wood burns out, heating and circulation stop naturally.

Heat time averages when used with a cover

• Cozy Chatter - 5ft Tub 370L | 60 to 90 minutes

• Big Banter - 6ft Tub 450L | 90 to 120 minutes

Exact timeline will vary based on a few factors such as:

- How regularly you are restoking the fire

- Starting temperature of the water, which will vary on location, climate and season

We recommend draining your FireTub within 24–36 hours of use.

Because it operates without a filtration or sanitisation system, static water will naturally deteriorate and go rancid quickly.

Leaving water in for extended periods can cause the static water to react with the galvanised coating and reduce the lifespan of your tub.

🔥 Operation & Safety

• Sit at the ends, not the middle; avoid sitting in-front of the top port/ fitting during heating — the circulating water can get hot during the heat up phase. 
• No plugs or valves while heating: Never insert plugs, caps, or valves into port fittings while the fire coil is operating. This can cause dangerous pressure build-up.

💧 Water Care

• Empty after each use: Don’t leave water in your FireTub for more than 36 hours to avoid damage from stagnant water.
• Keep covered & dry: Always keep your tub covered and dry when not in use to prevent rainwater, leaves and debris buildup.
• Stir during heating: Regularly stir the water while heating so the temperature is even—hot water can sit on top of cold water if not mixed. Hot & cold water have different densities; the hot water will sit on top of the cold water if not mixed in.

🧼 Cleaning & Maintenance

• Clean the inside of your FireTub weekly or fortnightly depending on use. Use a mild warm soapy solution and rinse well with clean water. Avoid harsh chemicals.
